Bastrop County Martin Luther King Holiday Walk
Third Monday. Observe Martin Luther King Day with out community! The event location rotates within the county.
A series of bicycle rides make loops through Bastrop State Park and the scenic country-side. Sag wagons provide support for this all-ages event.
A three day event on the third weekend in March. Parade ride through downtown Smithville andd back to Riverbend Park. Biker games, rides, contests, live music and more..
This four-day celebration - the town's oldest and largest - includes a Main Street Parade plus arts & crafts vendors. Riverbend Park is host to a carnival, sports tournaments, a livesock show, food and nightly dances.
Last weekend. This annual event celebrates Bastrop's colorful history with music and dance, pioneer skills demonstrations, "shoot-outs", cowboy roping, saloon girls and arts & crafts vendors along Main Street.
Smithville Reel Film Expo
First weekend. Enjoy the celebration of film and film-making with classes, vendors, movies and more in Smithville, the first town to be named "film friendly" by the Texas Film Commission.
Second Saturday. Hundreds of small planes land at the Smithville Municipal Airport to celebrate aviation and the adventuresome spirit of pilots with a delicious meal at the county's only airport.
Heart of Texas Green Expo
Second weekend. Bastrop hosts this two-day event to educate and energize attendees fromm across Texas to develop communities that are economically viable and ecologically sound.
Join us on the third Saturday to honor the emancipation of slaves in Texas. The celebration includes a parade, picnics and dances.
Fourth weekend. Activities include a parade, a carnival, sports tournaments, arts and crafts, live music and varied children's activities plus live music.
Perhaps the most unique parade in Bastrop County, pets of all types dressed in patriotic colors have the opportunity to strut down Main Street on the first Saturday of July.
First Saturday. The afternoon begins with children's activities, picnics and food booths in Fisherman's Park. The day ends with a fireworks display and music by the Austin Symphonic Band.
Elgin 4th of July People's Parade and Celebration
This annual event features a walking parade and a variety of activities in historic downtown Elgin, concluding at Veteran's Memorial Park.
Fourth Saturday. The gambling action is hotter that the July temperatures outside as Smithville's Recreation Center is transformed into a Vegas-style venue. Its a sure bet this fundraiser will be entertaining!
First weekend at Mayfest Hill Park. Join the fun at Bastrop's biggest annual party as classmates return for reunions plus a parade on Main Street, a rip-snorting rodeo, carnival rides and dancing 'til the wee hours.

Second weekend. Photographers, let your inner photographer snap! The Smithville Film Commission invites all levels of photography enthusiasts, models and set builders. Event includes photo contests, model contest, and Instagram walk and contest!
The "Sausage Capitol of Texas" celebrates sausage and all things porcine in this annual, fun-filled event. "Warm Hearts and Hot Guts" are featured themes with the crowning of King Hog or the Sowpreme Queen. The famous Sowpremes are featured with many other live bands and a variety of arts and crafts.
Halloween night. Bring the family for lots of tricks and treats plus costume contests, pumpkin carving and a spook house that is sure to thrill the whole family!
Second weekend. Friday night starts out with a drive-in movie at Fisherman's Park. Veterans are honored with a special tribute on Saturday. Hundreds of classic cars line the streets downtown, along with local vendors selling food and handmade items. On Sunday, enjoy brunch at the Hyatt with vintage cars displayed on the lawn.
Smithville Airing of the Quilts
Second Saturday. Historic, fancy and beautiful, hand-created quilts are displayed all over town as a nod to a historic past and specialized craft. Drawings held downtown.
Harvest Arts Festival
Weekend before Thanksgiving. Handmade art from local artists and fresh produce from local farmers.

First Saturday. A Gingerbread Man theme with lights deck out this picturesque downtown plus there are arts & crafts shows, a 5k run, kids' games and crafts, live music, a lighted parade plus a street dance!
